Shane Meadows reunites with Stephen Graham and Helen Behan for The Virtues

July 17, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Shane Meadows is reuniting with This Is England stars Stephen Graham and Helen Behan for The Virtues, a new four-part TV series penned by Jack Thorne.

The series will see Graham as Joseph, a man who returns home to Ireland to confront a troubled past after having been brought up in the state care system. Behan plays Anna, the sister whom Joseph has not seen since childhood, while Frank Laverty (Michael Collins) plays Anna’s husband.

“[The Virtues] takes the biblical, almost apocalyptic levels of revenge witnessed in ‘Dead Man’s Shoes,’ along with the bittersweet humor from ‘This Is England,’ and creates a landscape like nothing else I’ve worked on,” said Meadows.

Filming on The Virtues is underway now, and the series is slated to air on Channel 4 in 2019.
