Beverly Hills, 90210 and Sharknado star Ian Ziering has joined the cast of DC Universe’s live-action Swamp Thing series, where he’ll play the DC character Daniel Cassidy, a.k.a. Blue Devil.
The official description for the Swamp Thing incarnation of Blue Devil reads: “Stuntman turned movie star, Daniel Cassidy became semi-famous after playing the demonic Blue Devil. But now, eight years later, Cassidy finds himself living out his days in frustration, pining for his former fame while on a collision course with destiny.”

Swamp Thing follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be gone after all.
The pilot for Swamp Thing is being directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld), with James Wan (Aquaman) executive producing. The cast of the series includes Crystal Reed (Gotham) as Abby Arcane, Andy Bean (It: Chapter Two) as Alec Holland, Will Patton (Halloween) as Avery Sutherland, Maria Sten (Channel Zero) as Liz Tremayne, Jennifer Beals (The L World) as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, Jeryl Prescott (The Walking Dead) as Madame Xanadu, Kevin Durand (The Strain) as Jason Woodrue, Virginia Madsen (American Gothic) as Maria Sunderland, Henderson Wade (Riverdale) as Matt Cable, Ian Ziering (Sharknado) as Blue Devil and Derek Mears (Friday the 13th) as Swamp Thing.
