Showtime’s Dexter revival series has found its director

November 19, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Last month, it was announced that Showtime is looking to bring back serial killer drama Dexter for a limited series revival with original actor Michael C. Hall set to return after eight years since the critically panned series finale. Now, it is being reported that the series has found one of its directors in a former Dexter director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marcos Siega, who is a frequent collaborator of Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips and who previously directed nine episodes of the original series, has signed on to executive produce and direct six of the 10-episodes in the limited series. Siega’s other credits also include the pilot episode of The CW’s Batwoman, HBO’s True Blood, and HBO Max’s upcoming The Flight Attendant.

Phillips is set to return as showrunner and executive producer on the limited series, with Siega and Michael C. Hall also serving as executive producers alongside John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro and Scott Reynolds. Production on the new Dexter season is set to start early next year, with Showtime expecting to release the revival during the fall of 2021.

The original Dexter series followed serial killer Dexter Morgan who specifically targeted other serial killers while also holding down a job as a blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department before disappearing and becoming a lumberjack to live a life of solitude. There are currently no details on the plot of the revival at the time of reporting.
