Sony pushes back Alpha and Goosebumps 2

January 1, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Sony Pictures has announced that it is pushing back two of its 2018 releases, with Studio 8’s Alpha moving to September 14th from March 2nd, and Goosebumps 2 now set to open on October 12th rather than September 21st.

Alpha is directed by Albert Hughes and takes place 20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age, where a young man ( Kodi Smit-McPhee) is injured and left for dead during a hunt. Forced to learn to survive in the harsh wilderness, the man tames a lone wolf abandoned by its pack, with the two becoming unlikely allies in a fight for survival. Watch the trailer here.

As for the Goosebumps sequel, it was reported last month that the project could be moving ahead without the involvement of Jack Black. However, Deadline reports that Black is seemingly now on board to return as author R.L. Stine, and the new release date will move it away from another Black-headlined family title, The House With a Clock in Its Walls, as well as Lionsgate’s Robin Hood. It will now open alongside Lionsgate’s Hellfest and Damian Chazelle’s First Man.
