Sony’s Amy Pascal says Idris Elba should be the next James Bond

December 20, 2014 by Gary Collinson

He’s already the bookmakers’ favourite, and now it has been revealed that Sony co-chairmain Amy Pascal wants Idris Elba (Luther, Thor: The Dark World) to succeed Daniel Craig as 007.

According to The Daily Beast, Pascal sent an email to Elizabeth Cantillon, former executive vice president of production for Columbia Pictures, back in January, which read simply that: “Idris should be the next Bond.”

Having long been rumoured as a potential candidate for Bond, Elba expressed his interest earlier this year, admitting during a Reddit AMA that he would “absolutely” accept the role, should it be offered to him.

Would you like to see Idris Elba as the next 007? Let us know your thoughts…
