Spider-Girl in Homecoming sequel, Hitler on a T-rex, Wonder Woman box office and more – Daily News Roundup

May 12, 2017 by Luke Owen

SPIDER-GIRL

We’re gearing up for the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming in July, but Spidey himself Tom Holland has been talking about what who he’d like to face in the already-announced sequel. “There’s so many good villains, I really like Mysterio, I like Kraven,” he said. “I really like the Clone Saga. I think it could be really cool if Peter, or Spider-Man has to fight people with the same powers as him. Spider-Woman’s super cool… I think she’s called Spider-Girl who is his clone. They kind of like hit it off and they take their masks off and they’re like… [shocked look] What the hell! They’re like the same person, but she’s just a girl. I think that’s really cool.” Read more here.

FACEHUGGIN’ ACTION

Alien: Covenant hits cinemas today, and a new clip from the movie has been released featuring the iconic Facehugger. Watch it here.

MORE ALIENS

Speaking of Alien: Covenant, and director Ridley Scott said earlier in the week that he expects to be in production on the next movie in around 14 months. However that’s not all, as he’s now saying he could do one or more movies in the series. “[I’ll make] maybe two more [films], or maybe one more, I don’t know,” he said. Read more here.

HITLER ON A T-REX!

Much like its predecessor, we haven’t heard anything from Iron Sky: The Coming Race (we got the first trailer in 2015) but a new poster has been released – featuring Hitler on a T-rex. Yup. Check it out here.

WONDER WOMAN BOX OFFICE

We’ve got a few bits of box office news to get through now, kicking off with Wonder Woman. Last month it was being reported that the DCEU movie was tracking around $85 million domestic, but news broke yesterday that it will more likely be around $65 million. This does put it on-par with Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, but it isn’t a great sign for DC. Read more here.

LEGEND OF THE FLOP

And speaking of poor box office returns, it’s looking like Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is going to struggle this weekend going against Alien: Covenant. The film cost around $175 million, but tracking reports state it could earn as little as $25 million. Ouch! Read more here.

GUARDIANS OF THE BOX OFFICE

And finally on box office news, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has now passed $500 million worldwide. Congrats guys! Read more here.
