Stan Lee on why Fantastic Four flopped, confirms X-Men: Apocalypse cameo

September 3, 2015 by Gary Collinson

While the Marvel brand is a license to print money these days, 20th Century Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four tanked hard at the box office, with the film yet to pull in $150 million worldwide, making it one of – if not the – biggest failures of the year so far.

Speaking to Larry King on Larry King Now, Marvel icon Stan Lee has revealed why he thinks the film tanked so hard, stating that: “It was probably because I didn’t have a cameo in it and they didn’t discuss the story with me but I haven’t seen it yet.”

Lee may have been absent from Fantastic Four, but he will feature in Fox’s next Marvel offering X-Men: Apocalypse: “That cameo is different than any I’ve done before, because I did it with another person who is very important to me. I can’t tell you more than that, you’ve gotta see it.”

Fantastic Four is out now, while X-Men: Apocalypse will hit cinemas on May 27th 2016.
