Stan Lee says having Spider-Man and X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is “something that Marvel is very concerned about”

December 8, 2014 by admin

If there is a common theme from the comments section of news stories about films like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Fantastic Four, it’s fans clamouring to see big comic book names like Spider-Man, X-Men and Marvel’s first family to return to Marvel Studios so they can cross over with Iron Man, Captain America and the rest of The Avengers. However, it seems like it’s an unlikely scenario.

At a comic convention over the weekend, Marvel creator Stan Lee was asked about the possibility to which he said, “It’s something that Marvel is very concerned about. It’s very difficult to bring them all together because these characters are so successful and make so much money that the studios that have the rights don’t want to let them go. So that’s something that all the lawyers and all the production companies have to work out. Whether they get it worked out, I don’t know.”

“It is a shame that Marvel can’t distribute every one of them,” Lee continues. “Because then we could put them all together in a movie – that would make a hundred trillion dollars!”

A hundred trillion dollars, Stan? You’ve got more chance of X-Men teaming with The Avengers really…

Next up from Marvel Studios is Avengers: Age of Ultron, which won’t feature Spider-Man or Fantastic Four, but will see Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Paul Bettany (JARVIS / The Vision), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), James Spader (Ultron), Thomas Kretschmann (Baron Strucker), Josh Brolin (Thanos) and Andy Serkis in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
