Stan Lee tries his luck

February 9, 2016 by admin

Although he’s created many iconic comic-book characters such as Spider-Man and the X-Men, Stan Lee is certainly showing no signs of slowing down as he recently delivered his first UK television creation in the form of Stan Lee’s Lucky Man.

The ten-part series gave the 93-year-old comic book writer the chance to explore familiar themes of an individual blessed with supernatural powers that he must use for the forces of good or evil.

And whilst it may be yet another superhero-styled creation, it does provide a welcome bonus for any comic book fans who’ve ever wanted to visit a casino or even head to an online site like Betway.

Stan Lee’s Lucky Man premiered on SKY 1 in late January 2016, and quickly introduced the central character of a detective inspector played by James Nesbitt whose wife has recently left him and also faces some crippling gambling debts.

One night the DI has a romantic encounter with a mysterious lady who leaves him a bronze bracelet that grants him the ability to control his luck. This immense power soon reveals itself to be both a blessing and a curse, as it can bring bad luck, as well as good.

The original idea of the series came from Stan Lee, but it was thanks to writer Neil Biswas that the script managed to overcome the limited scope of the somewhat stereotypical main characters to provide a thoroughly entertaining twist on the modern gambling saga.

Key to the success of the series is the way in which the casino environment is portrayed as a glittering example of London’s nightlife. And although anyone can take advantage of Betway’s welcome bonus here to access a range of casino games ranging from poker to slots and blackjack, the exploits of the detective inspector manages to make the gambler’s life look like one full of danger, intrigue and excitement.

It’s not the first time that Stan Lee has had success in bringing the comic books to our TV screens. The Killgrave character in the current Netflix hit Jessica Jones was reportedly created by Stan Lee and Joe Orlando. And he’s had numerous successes with animated shows as far away as Japan and India, and even created the reality TV show Who Wants To Be A Superhero?

So whether you’re looking to follow the detective inspector’s exploits courtesy of Betway’s welcome bonus, or prefer to watch the action unfurl from the comfort of your sofa, it looks like Stan Lee’s Lucky Man will continue his amazing creative legacy.
