Star Wars: The Last Jedi crosses $800 million at the worldwide box office

December 26, 2017 by Gary Collinson

After finishing the Christmas weekend on $793.3 million, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has now topped the $800 million mark at the global box office after less than two weeks on release.

By close of play yesterday, Star Wars: The Last Jedi had grossed $397.3 million domestically, with a further $396.1 million from international markets. It becomes the ninth film of the year to surpass $800 million, and the fourth Disney release to do so after Beauty and the Beast, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok.

Not accounting for inflation, The Last Jedi has now outgrossed The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Attack of the Clones and A New Hope, and is fast closing in on Revenge of the Sith, which earned $849 million back in 2005. The Phantom Menace sits on $1.027 billion, followed by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on $1.051 billion and Star Wars: The Force Awakens on $2.059 billion.
