Star Wars Rebels and Solo: A Star Wars Story won’t share a connection

October 24, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The final season of Star Wars Rebels won’t share a connection with the Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Rebels has seen its fair share of cameos, Easter eggs, and other connections concerned with the larger Star Wars universe during its run. Characters such as Darth Maul, Vader, Lando, and Leia have all shown up, and the series is also lining up with the timeline of Rogue One and A New Hope.

However, the connections will stop there in the animated show’s last season, at least in regards to Lucasfilm’s latest anthology movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Executive Producer of the series, Dave Filoni, has revealed as much in a recent interview with i09.

“I don’t know if there’s anything Ezra Bridger could really add to the saga of a Han Solo type character. We already had Lando in our show, but we have to be careful about it being a variety show. We’ve had a lot of characters come in and out and I always get worried about small galaxy syndrome.”

The reasoning is certainly sound from Filoni. Galaxies are a big place after all, and it does become a tad unfeasible to see the same characters constantly bumping into each other. Also, Rebels has enough on its plate as it is without having to think about linking up to yet another series of events.
