Stephen King’s Mile 81 getting a big screen adaptation

February 9, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

It looks like we can add Mile 81 to the ever-expanding list of Stephen King projects heading to the screen, with Deadline reporting that Alistair Legrand has signed on to direct a feature film adaptation, from a script he has written by Luke Harvis, his co-writer on The Diabolical and Clinical.

Based on the 2011 novella, Mile 81 takes place at a boarded up rest stop and follows 12-year-old Pete, his brother, and a group of strangers who must fight to survive as they’re hunted by a mysterious force – a hungry extra-terrestrial entity which has assumed the identity of a battered old station wagon.

Mile 81 is being produced by Ross M. Dinerstein, who worked with Legrand and Harvis on both The Diabolical and Clinical, and also recently produced Netflix’s Stephen King adaptation 1922 starring Thomas Jane.
