Stranger Things season 5 to begin production after the holidays

December 9, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Stranger Things is nearing its final days, and we have some news on when that will begin as reports claim that production on the fifth and final season of the Netflix series is set to begin in early January.

Filming was postponed for over seven months due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, with many actors already filming some of the series.

As for what to expect, filmmaker Shawn Levy teases, “There’s no way to be contiguous with Season 4 and not, frankly, expand scale and depth. It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”

Before the Hollywood strikes, director Dan Trachtenberg was attached as a director, while 80s icon Linda Hamilton was also announced as joining the series.

Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gates Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke and Priah Ferguson are all expected to return.
