Suicide Squad adds Common to its ranks in mystery role

April 23, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

The Hollywood Reporter has broke the news that Oscar winning musician and actor Common (Selma) has joined the cast of DC and Warner Bros.Pictures’ Suicide Squad in a mystery role.

In the last year or so, Common’s name has cropped up in amongst various rumours for DC projects, and he was previously set to co-star in George Miller’s abandoned Justice League film back in 2008, which would have seen him play Green Lantern John Stewart. We wait with anticipation to see who the actor will play this time around.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016, and features a cast that includes Will Smith (Focus) as Deadshot, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney (Terminator Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, , Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Thor: The Dark World) as Killer Croc, Ray Olubowale (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as King Shark, and Jay Hernandez (Hostel), Adam Beach (Flags of our Fathers), Jim Parrack (Fury), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project), Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride) and newcomer Karen Fukuhara in as-yet-unconfirmed roles.
