As it commonplace with superhero movies these days, Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad movie has been surrounded by rumour and speculation from the moment it was first announced, with countless “scoops” from websites claiming to have the inside track on the film… the majority of which will be quietly swept under the carpet when the movie arrives in a little over a week from now.
During an interview with WSVN-TV’s Chris Van Vliet (via THR), Suicide Squad helmer David Ayer was ssked what the most ridiculous rumour he’d heard during the making of the film, with the director responding: “That the Joker is Jason Todd. It ain’t the case. He’s not.”
The Joker / Jason Todd theory stems from Jared Leto’s Joker having a tattoo of a dead bird, along with the Robin costume glimpsed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which apparently has bullet holes which match up with scars on the Clown Prince of Crime. In all honestly, it was always a stretch, and it looks like we can now finally put the rumour to bed…
