According to The Wrap, The CW has made a new addition to its latest Arrowverse series, Superman & Lois. Stacey Farber (Degrassi: The Next Generation) is set for a recurring villain role of Leslie Larr.
Larr is described as “the right hand to one of the most influential people on the planet, she’s gone from a young, idealistic dreamer to a hardened, world-worn dream killer. Athletic, strong… and oftentimes heartless.”
While there is no Leslie Larr in the Superman comics, The Wrap does note the similarity of her name to the Supergirl villain Lesla-Larr. First appearing in 1961’s Action Comics #279, Lesla-Larr was a brilliant Kryptonian scientist from the city of Kandor, one of the only surviving remnants of Kyrpton’s destruction. Jealous of Supergirl’s fame and powers, she kidnapped Supergirl and tried to take her place in the world, teaming up with Lex Luthor to do so before being defeated. She appeared sporadically in the comics throughout the 60s and 70s, but was killed off for good in 1981 and hasn’t made an appearance in any DC comic since.
Farber has also appeared in the Canadian series Saving Hope and currently stars on Diggstown.
Whether there is more to Leslie Larr than meets the eye or the similarity in names is just a homage, it seems Superman and Lois Lane may be facing more trouble than they thought when the series premieres in January. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui, “Entourage”), a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark’s first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing (Erik Valdez, “Graceland”). The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah (Inde Navarrette, “Wander Darkly”). Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, General Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh, “Nip/Tuck”) looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois’ return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger (Wolé Parks, “All American”) enters their lives. Based on the characters from DC created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, SUPERMAN & LOIS is written and executive produced by Todd Helbing (“The Flash”) and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns.
