Back in May it was announced that filmmaker Siddharth Anand and martial arts expect Tiger Shroff are teaming up for an official Bollywood remake of First Blood, which is set to begin production in 2018 under the title of Rambo [take a look at the teaser poster here].
Amid rumours that Sylvester Stallone will be involved with the production, the action icon has spoken to Deadline to clarify that “any involvement in Tiger Sharoff’s Rambo is not happening, under any circumstances” although he has nothing against the project, and “I wish them well on their own.”
Stallone had ambitions to reprise the role of John J. Rambo for a fifth movie, Rambo: Last Blood, although the project failed to materialise. He was also linked to a Rambo TV series which would have paired the Vietnam veteran up with his son, but declined to get involved, leaving the show dead in the water.
Meanwhile, back in October of last year, Nu Image and Millennium Films announced their own reboot Rambo: New Blood, with a new actor set to take on the role. Ariel Vromen (Criminal) was attached to direct, but we’ve heard nothing further since the initial announcement.
Although a Rambo return looks to be off the cards, Stallone does intend on returning as Rocky Balboa for Creed 2, which is thought to pit Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed against the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who was of course responsible for killing Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) in Rocky IV.
