Tala Ashe cast in season 3 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

June 6, 2017 by Ricky Church

Originally published June 6, 2017. Updated April 16, 2018.

A new member is joining the Legends team in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Actress Tala Ashe has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming third season as Zari Adrianna Tomaz, or better known in the comics as her superhero alter-ego Isis.

Zari Adrianna Tomaz is a Muslim-American woman from the year 2030 who lives in a world of contradictions. Technology has brought about incredible change in her future, but human nature hasn’t kept pace. Fear, prejudice and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a “gray hat hacktivist.” She lives a double life and doesn’t realize that she has secret, latent powers derived from an ancient, mystical source.

In the comics, Zari lives in the totalitarian and fictional state of Khandaq, where she fought against its corruption and leader Black Adam. Eventually the two became friends and she began changing his outlook on the world, altering him for the better. He later granted her the Amulet of Isis and she was given the powers of the ancient goddess.

Ashe will join Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill, Dominic Purcell, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Nick Zano, Amy Pemberton, Matt Letscher and Maisie Richardson-Sellers in the third season of Legends of Tomorrow.
