The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki joins The Ring sequel, Rings

April 2, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

With filming now underway on Paramount Pictures’ The Ring sequel, simply called Rings, news has reached us that The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki has been added to the cast of the film.

Reports from Deadline suggest that Galecki will play a “pleasure seeking professor named Gabriel who serves as a mentor to Alex Roe and Matilda Lutz’s characters.”

Roe plays Holt, a young man who begins to become distant from his girlfriend, Julia (Lutz) after watching the infamous deadly videotape the series is known for.

The American remake and subsequent sequel (The Ring and The Ring Two) of Hideo Nakata’s 1998 horror-thriller were released in 2002 and 2005 respectively, and told the now infamous story of a videotape of ghoulish images that causes anyone who watches it to die seven days later.

F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before the Fall), is directing the new film with Academy Award-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) rewriting the sequel draft by David Loucka (Dream House).

The film also stars Aimee Teegarden and is set for a November 13th release.
