The Boys season 3 will explore more of Vought International’s history, says Eric Kripke

December 4, 2021 by Liam Waddington

With the third season of Amazon’s hit superhero series The Boys arriving sometime next year after wrapping production back in September 2021, showrunner Eric Kripke has teased that the upcoming season will explore the history of Vought International.

In an interview with The Illuminerdi, Kripke was asked if there were any particular characters fans should look forward to seeing in Season 3, to which he responded:

“I mean all of them! I mean I think they all get amazing things to do. I mean season 3’s fun because it’s not just about Soldier Boy, but it’s about the team he was a part of which is called Payback. And Laurie Holden plays Crimson Countess and there’s a bunch of other heroes who are amazing. So, sort of seeing who was the Seven before the Seven. And what was life like for Vought? In the history of Vought what was it like in the 60s and 70s and 80s? To dig into the history of the world, not just the present has been a lot of fun.”

The history of Vought International was first shown in Season 2 when Stormfront (Aya Cash) revealed that the company was founded by a Nazi scientist, Frederick Vought, who defected to the United States. It was also revealed that Vought invented the drug known as Compound-V during WWII, which he had injected into his own wife – who would become the first successful superhero and go by the name of Stormfront.

Although plot details on the third season are being kept under wraps, Homelander actor Antony Starr has previously stated that season three is his favourite one so far while Karl Urban has claimed that it might be the best season yet.

New additions to The Boys Season 3 include Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) as Crimson Countess, Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) as Soldier Boy, Katia Winter (Sleepy Hollow) as Little Nina, Sean Patrick Flanery (Dexter) as Gunpowder, Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Blue Hawk, and Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order: True Crime: —The Menendez Murders) as Supersonic.

Expected returnees include Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Tomer Capon, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Erin Moriarty, Jessie Usher, Nathan Mitchell, Chace Crawford, Claudia Doumit, Colby Minifie, and Giancarlo Esposito.
