The Dark Knight getting the anime treatment with Batman Ninja movie

October 2, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Warner Bros. is heading to the New York Comic Con later this week, where it will unveil a brand new project from Warner Bros. Japan in Batman Ninja, a brand new anime feature film set for release in 2018.

Comic Book reports that Warner Bros. will hold a panel at NYCC on Thursday, where it will offer up the very first footage from the movie, as well as a panel featuring director Jumpei Mizusaki (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure), character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai), screenwriter Kazuki Nakashima (Kamen Rider Fourze) and English language screenwriters Leo Chu and Eric Garcia.

The panel description reads:

Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment team for an eye-popping addition to the Batman animated legacy with Batman Ninja, a spectacular, all-new anime film coming in 2018. Be among the first to witness the premiere of colorful footage from this imaginative take on Batman and many of his connected characters.

This isn’t the first time that the Caped Crusader has had the anime treatment, with Warner Bros. releasing Batman: Gotham Knight back in 2008 as a tie-in to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy.
