The Diary of a Teenage Girl star Bel Powley to headline Wildling

October 6, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Rising British actress Bel Powley has signed on to star in director Fritz Bohm’s new film Wildling, which will see her star alongside Liv Tyler, Deadline reports.

Powley shot to fame this year with her star-making turn in hit indie comedy-drama The Diary of a Teenage Girl, as well as earning acclaim for her roles in A Royal Night Out and the upcoming Equals alongside Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult.

Wilding is described as a “vampire pic in the vein of Let The Right One In” and sees Powley as a young girl whose father (Brad Dourif) tells her of the horrors of the outside and “a creature known as Wilding, who is eating children.”

Tyler (The Lord of the Rings) is co-producing the film alongside Trudie Styler and her Maven Pictures.

At age 16, Anna is freed by small-town sheriff Ellen Champney (Tyler) with whom she finds a temporary home. For the first time in her life, Anna experiences the Outside, soon learning there’s no such thing as the Wildling. But as she begins to flourish as a young woman, a series of unsettling events unfolds. James LeGros will portray the Wolf Man, an eccentric shaman who lives in the forest.
