The Greatest Martial Arts Movies By Shaw Brothers Studio

January 28, 2021 by Red Stewart

Marvelous Videos presents the best of Shaw Brothers…

Sometimes a movie studio goes into a crowded marketplace with one goal in mind- find a niche and exploit the heck out of it. It’s a tactic that has risks and rewards associated with it- on the one hand, you can dominate an entire subsect of the filmgoing populace by catering specifically to them, but on the other hand, if you fail to find an audience, all your efforts are for null and you either have to restart or go bankrupt.

The Shaw Brothers, luckily, managed to find success. Emerging during the 1960s as a powerhouse producer of Hong Kong action cinema, Shaw Brothers Studio had a major impact on western love for all things Chinese martial arts. And while they did explore other genres, their fighting films have remained the most popular.

Here are ten of the best, as presented by Marvelous Videos…
