The Lord of the Rings TV show to feature “characters you love”

June 12, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Amazon has confirmed that there will be characters we know and love appearing in the new TV series.

There is no doubt that The Lord of the Rings is one of the most beloved franchises around, with Tolkien’s masterpiece having been adapted to films, video games, and numerous other mediums.

The next place you will be able to explore more of Middle Earth will be on Amazon in the form of a five-season TV show. There’s very little we know about the series as yet but we do know that Peter Jackson, director of all three LOTR movies and The Hobbit films, won’t be involved.

That doesn’t mean we won’t see characters we love from the films, however, as head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, has confirmed to Deadline in a recent interview.

“I think you can know that we’re not remaking the movies, but we’re also not starting from scratch. So, it’ll be characters you love.”

This will be a big deal for the show not just in terms of marketing but also to those who are so besotted with the classic ‘Rings’ trilogy and, of course, the literary works of Tolkien.

Which characters do you want to see appear in the show? Let us know in the comments below…
