Disney’s live-action Cinderella is one of The Mouse House’s better efforts when it comes to mining their own archive for big-screen content, and now Anastasia and Drizella, the artists formerly known as ‘The Ugly Sisters’, are set to get a movie of their own directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer.
According to Deadline, Schaffer, who directed last year’s $100 million grossing reboot of The Naked Gun, will helm Stepsisters, a live-action film that will focus on the squabbling siblings who went out of their way to make life even more difficult for Cinderella.
Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who have worked with Schaffer on The Naked Gun and 2022’s Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, will rework an original script written Michael Montemayor (Tangled).
Disney are coming off the back of one of their biggest live-action remakes in years with 2025’s Lilo & Stitch, which earned over $1 billion at the worldwide box-office, and have just dropped the trailer for this year’s way-too-soon reimaging of Mulan.
