The next Star Wars Anthology film could be announced by the summer

April 20, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The next anthology film in the Star Wars universe could very well be announced as soon as this summer.

We’ve known for a while now that the young Han Solo movie is coming our way, and we of course know all about the upcoming Episode VIII and IX to finish off the new trilogy which started with The Force Awakens.

But what we don’t know is what will come after. There has been plenty of speculation, such as a solo Obi-Wan movie, a Boba Fett film and even a YA romance, but nothing concrete from Disney or Lucafilm.

Well, that all might be about to change as in an interview with MTV, president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, has said that the announcement might be just around the corner.

“I think we’re getting close. My hope would be sometime around the summer. I never want to predict the creative process because it is its own thing, so we’re in the midst of those discussions right now.”

So, while not a definitive statement regarding an announcement, it looks like it will certainly be sooner rather than later.

And with 2020 not too far in the distance – the stated release date for the movie – Disney and Lucasfilm will want to start the hype train as soon as possible.

What are you hoping to see from the 2020 Anthology movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
