The Walking Dead: World Beyond cast hated the original title says star

August 12, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Alexa Mansour, one of the stars of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, says the cast were not the biggest fans of the show’s original title.

The Walking Dead keeps on trucking along, with yet another spin-off show recently announced in the form of The World Beyond. Set 10 years after the apocalypse began, it follows a group of teens as they come of age in this zombie-infested world.

The World Beyond wasn’t always the title for the show, however, once being known as The Walking Dead: Endlings. Star Alexa Mansour has revealed on the Talk Dead to Me podcast (via The Sun) that she and the cast were totally against the original name:

“I don’t think any of us liked that name, to be honest. We had no idea what we were called. We would go to set and our codename was ‘Monument,’ which I thought was pretty cool. We kind of shot on Monument Street in Virginia and all this kind of stuff, and I was like, ‘That’s actually a really cool name, you should keep that.'”

While the execs tried to come up with an actual name, the cast had their own ideas: “We all joked around, like ‘Children of The Walking Dead.’ We would joke around on set and say all these weird, stupid names. And they came up with ‘World Beyond.’ That moment felt better than actually booking the job, because we were real, it felt like we were actually something.”

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will premiere on 4th October after the prime show’s season 10 finale.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest.  Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other.  Some will become heroes.  Some will become villains.  But all of them will find the truths they seek.

Created by Scott M. Gimple and showrunner Matt Negrete, The Walking Dead: World Beyond features a cast that includes Aliyah Royale as Iris, Alexa Mansour as Hope, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, Nico Tortorella as Felix, Julia Ormond as Elizabeth, Natalie Gold as Lyla, Al Calderon as Barca, Scott Adsit as Tony and Ted Sutherland as Percy.
