The Walking Dead’s ratings falter again in second week

November 1, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Ratings for The Walking Dead have taken another stumble in the second week of its new season.

Season 8 of the hit AMC zombie series hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts, with its season premier bringing in numbers lower than the show has seen for an opening episode in years.

The bad news has kept on coming for the TWD as the show also dipped dramatically for its second episode.

According to Variety and Nielsen Live+Same Day data, the episode brought in a 4.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.9 million in terms of viewers. This equates to a drop of 20 percent from the previous week’s premiere and is also the lowest rating for The Walking Dead since season 2, episode 8 – an episode which drew in a 4.2 and 8.1 million viewers in 2012.

Despite these less than pleasing numbers, TWD was still the top rated cable show on Sunday night by a significant distance.

The Walking Dead season 8 airs on Sundays on AMC in the US and on Mondays on FOX in the UK.
