The Week in Star Wars – Darth Maul video game, Star Wars TV show update and more

January 22, 2017 by admin

Your weekend edition of The Week in Star Wars features concept art from the cancelled Darth Maul game, an update on a possible TV show and more…

Our top story this week surrounds a possible Star Wars TV show, which was rumoured back in August last year. ABC made some comments that sounded like something was in development, but then they went back on them. Well now network executive Channing Dungey has reiterated those comments saying, “That was sort of a conversation at TCA that got blown way out of proportion. We have had some conversations in general about wanting to find a way to bring something from the Lucas Star Wars Universe to ABC, but that’s far into the future. The focus at the moment for Lucas is on the current stuff that they’re doing on the film side and then, of course, they do have the stuff that they are doing on XD.” Looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for some small screen adventures in a galaxy far, far away…

…Speaking of things that won’t be coming your way any time soon, some concept art from the cancelled Darth Maul game surfaced online this week. The game, titled Star Wars: Maul, was in development between 2010 and 2011, but the plug was pulled by LucasArts prior to Lucasfilm’s sale to Disney. Shame really, as it looked really cool…

…In an upcoming episode of Pop Culture Quest, Mark Hamill is reunited with his lightsaber from the original Star Wars trilogy. It’s quite the nostalgia trip and features some new interesting trivia about the mechanics behind the prop along with who else has used it on set. Watch a clip of it here…

…Iron Studios has revealed its Darth Vader Legacy Replica statue from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Standing at approximately 20 inches tall, the limited edition collectible is available to pre-order here, priced at $650.00 and is expected to ship August-October. Check out images of it here…

…Last week we brought you news about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story being adapted into a comic book, and you can now check out a variant cover of it here…

…Over to Star Wars Rebels now, and you can watch the Rebels Recon for Episode 13 here, along with Chris Cooper’s review here. And to whet your appetite, here’s some images of Episode 14 here…

…And finally, here’s your comic book preview for the week in Star Wars #27: Master Yoda finds himself on an all-new world…full of vicious, mysteriously powered children?! Not easy, will this be.

That’s all for this week – may the Force be with you.
