Thor’s roommate Darryl will not appear in Thor: Ragnarok

June 19, 2017 by Robert Kojder

For those who may be unaware, Marvel created a series of comedic shorts titled Team Thor, explaining the God of Thunder’s absence from last year’s colossal superhero showdown Captain America: Civil War [watch them here and here]. During the shorts, the Avenger moved into an apartment and found himself a roommate named Darryl, who became quite the fan favorite hit over the course of the sketches.

Unfortunately for fans of Darryl, at Australia’s Supernova Comic-Con, Chris Hemsworth has revealed that the character will not be making an appearance in this November’s highly anticipated MCU entry Thor: Ragnarok. A Twitter user at the convention relayed the news by stating the following:

Chris confirms that Daryl will NOT appear in Ragnarok. Possibly in Infinity War though… #ChrisHemsworth #Supanova

The decision makes sense considering that Thor: Ragnarok seems to be an exclusively cosmic affair, but is sure to disappoint any Darryl fans who were hoping to see him make a cameo appearance. Still, there’s always Infinity War…

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.

Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and features Marvel veterans Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk alongside Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge and Sam Neill in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on October 27th in the UK and November 3rd in the States.
