Tom Hardy set for DC/Vertigo adaptation 100 Bullets for New Line Cinema

August 11, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After being linked to a few different comic book adaptations over the last couple of years, including backing out of the role of Rick Flagg in next year’s Suicide Squad due to scheduling conflicts, it looks like Tom Hardy has found a way back into the world of comic book movies.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Mad Max: Fury Road star Hardy is in talks to star and produce an adaptation of Vertigo Comics’ gritty 100 Bullets, which New Line Cinema is set to produce as the first film since taking over DC Entertainment’s Vertigo Comics film slate from Warner Bros.

The comic, created by Eduardo Risso and Brian Azzarello, ran for 100 issues between 1999 and 2009, and centres on an “enigmatic man named Agent Graves as he presents different people, for reasons unknown, with a gun, the identity of the person who ruined their lives … and a hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition.”

Hardy is of course no stranger to the comic book movie world after playing villain bane in the concluding part of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, in 2012.

The British actor will soon be seen as the infamous Kray twins in new film Legend, which is due for release in the UK this September.
