Tom Hiddleston on Loki being cut from Avengers: Age of Ultron and possibly playing James Bond

October 6, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Tom Hiddleston has begun his promotional campaign for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming horror Crimson Peak, and inevitably questions are being asked about Loki and his Marvel connections, as well as the rumours linking him to 007 after current Bond Daniel Craig “retires”.

“I was part of the dream sequence for the character of Thor, and I shot for a day, enjoyed it very much,” Hiddelston told Digital Spy about his cameo in Avengers: Age of Ultron. “Then I received a phone call from Kevin Feige, actually Joss emailed me, basically Kevin said that in test screenings audiences had over-emphasized Loki’s role. So they thought that because I was in it I was controlling Ultron, and that it was imbalancing people’s expectations. So Joss and Kevin were like ‘Let’s cut it because it’s confusing people.'”

Along with Idris Elba and Tom Hardy, many fans have been suggesting Hiddleston for the role of James Bond once Daniel Craig has left the series. Would he be interested?

“In an entirely hypothetical situation….Of course it would be… that would be such a huge… I think I would enjoy the experience,” he told BBC Newsbeat. “I would never want to usurp or even attempt to usurp Daniel Craig’s place in the James Bond pantheon.”

Crimson Peak is out in UK and US cinemas on October 16th.
