Tom Hiddleston says Thor: Ragnarok features the funniest depiction of Thor we’ve seen

February 21, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Whenever Taika Waititi is asked about his upcoming entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Ragnarok, he usually goes on record saying that the blockbuster will also feature his unique flavor of comedy previously seen in critical hits such as What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

Falling in line with these statements is a video posted by Fandango where Tom Hiddleston is at a press event promoting the upcoming March blockbuster Kong: Skull Island. He talks about the tone of the Marvel threequel, stating the following:

“At the end of The Dark World, Loki is on the throne. At the beginning of Ragnarok, Thor has a few questions, Loki is endearingly enigmatic about providing answers. Taika Waititi is such a spirited, hilarious individual, and he and Chris Hemsworth became very fast friends. What was great for me to see was to see their friendship kind of blossom, and they brought out the best in each other, and started making stuff up, and I can confidently say right now that this will be the funniest depiction of the character of Thor that you’ve ever seen. I personally have known for almost ten years that Chris Hemsworth is hilarious.”

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.

Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and features Marvel veterans Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk alongside Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge and Sam Neill in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on November 3rd, 2017.
