Tom Hiddleston is heading back to Apple TV+, furthering his impressive resume of TV roles. Next up, he’ll star in White Darkness, an epic new drama coming to the streamer.
As per Variety, the series is based on the nonfiction book of the same name by David Grann. White Darkness is “inspired by the true-life account of Henry Worsley (Hiddleston), a devoted husband and father, a former soldier, a man of deep honor and sacrifice, but also a man deeply obsessed with adventure, manifesting in an epic journey crossing Antarctica on foot.”
Soo Hugh will serve as writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner on the series. Hugh is fresh off the Apple series Pachinko, which he created and also showran. Mark Heyman will executive produce and co-showrun.
Hiddleston will head to Apple TV+ before White Darkness; he’ll star in The Essex Serpent alongside Claire Danes, which debuts in May. The actor has recently starred in Loki, which became a massive success for Disney+ and is currently prepping to shoot its second season. Hiddleston also starred in the limited series The Night Manager in 2016, leading to an Emmy nomination.
