Tracy Morgan to play Redd Foxx in the Richard Pryor biopic

November 16, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Tracy Morgan has joined the cast of The Weinstein Company’s Richard Pryor biopic, where he’ll portray the comedian Redd Foxx, who was known for his role in the classic sitcom Sanford and Son, as well as his raunchy nightclub stand-up act and explicit comedy records.

The biopic – titled Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? – is set to be directed by Lee Daniels (The Butler) and will see Mike Epps taking on the role of the legendary comedian, while other cast members include Kate Hudson as Jennifer Lee Pryor, Eddie Murphy as LeRoy Pryor and Oprah Winfrey as Marie Carter.

Tracy Morgan returned to Saturday Night Live last month after recovering from his 2014 car accident; he will be seen later this year in The Night Before, and is currently filming Fist Fight with Ice Cube and Charlie Day.
