Triple Frontier loses Tom Hardy, Channing Tatum, and Paramount

April 14, 2017 by Samuel Brace

It’s not been a good day for J.C. Chandor’s Triple Frontier which was supposed to start production next month. Deadline Hollywood has confirmed that the film is no longer with Paramount, and that stars Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum are out as well.

The film – which at one time was meant to star Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks and Will Smith – is set in the infamous border zone between Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil, and recently added even more star power with Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.

But the whole thing seems to be on fragile ground now, with Deadline also reporting that Chandor turned in a script that Tatum and Hardy weren’t exactly in love with.

The plan was to make Triple Frontier on a tight budget and a quick schedule, but sources say once creative differences reared their head – stemming mostly from Hardy – Paramount decided to bail on the project all together.

It’s always a shame when dramas like this with top talent on board fall apart, but it seems this is just what has happened here.

Chandor will likely try to regroup, assemble a new cast etc., so perhaps we haven’t heard the last of the project.
