Until Dawn trailer promises time loops and terror from video game adaptation

January 16, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

Having teased its arrival with a behind-the-scenes video, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions have unveiled the full trailer for their Until Dawn adaptation, which gives audiences a look at terrifying monsters and time-loops lifted straight from the 2015 videogame.

Written by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home), and directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle Creation), Until Dawn tells the story of a group of friends who travel to a remote area in search of their missing friend, only to be picked off by different monsters, and then in a Butterfly Effect-style narrative that was the game’s gimmick, they get brought back to life in order to enact the events again with a slightly different outcome.

Starring Ella Rubin as Clover, Michael Cimino as Max, Ji-young Yoo as Megan, Odessa A’zion as Nina, Maia Mitchell as Melanie, Belmont Cameli as Abel, and Peter Stormare reprising his role as Dr. Alan J. Hill from the game, you can check out the teaser below…

One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.
