Upcoming horror anthology For We Are Many to summon the demons

March 14, 2017 by Kieran Fisher

If you’re a serious horror aficionado and seeking something a little bit different from the typical fare that’s churned out on the regular, you’re going to want to get acquainted with Hex Media.  Founded by Lawrie Brewster and Sarah Daly in 2011, the company has carved quite a unique niche for itself in the world of independent genre film.  With their previous two films Lord of Tears (2013) and The Unkindness of Ravens (2016) garnering rave reviews – and the former going viral for a series of popular prank videos featuring its terrifying villain, the Owlman – it’s fair to say that Hex Media is on the rise.

Their next venture looks set to be their most ambitious to date, and a great way to showcase some up and coming independent talent.  Titled For We Are Many, the film will feature a collection of shorts from international filmmakers inspired by daemonology and the occult.

Already confirmed are FrightFest alumni Liam Regan (Banjo), Katie Bonham (Mindless) and horror icon Nicholas Vince (Hellraiser).  The aim is to provide an intense horror experience with imaginative practical effects, in addition to providing a platform for up and coming filmmakers to strut their spooky stuff.

According to Lawrie Brewster; “We are deeply passionate about seeking out new talent in the horror genre, and helping to provide a platform for those with creative aspirations. Plenty of extremely talented filmmakers are putting out great short content, only for it to languish on YouTube. We thought that, with a little support and collaboration, we could instead give directors the opportunity to be part of something bigger that we hope can act as a springboard for their careers – and make something pretty amazing and unique in the process.”

The film is being developed by Brewster and producing partner Alex Harron, with a planned release slated for Spring next year.  Until then, check out Hex Media’s output so far if you haven’t already as their brand of horror is unlike anything else being produced at the moment.
