Vin Diesel on Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

October 17, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Having sacrificed himself to save his friends during the climactic showdown with Ronan the Accuser, fan favourite Groot made his triumphant return in Baby form at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, and with the upcoming sequel taking place six months after the first movie, the anthropomorphic tree will still be a sapling when we catch up with him in Vol. 2.

Speaking to Collider, Vin Diesel has spoken about what we can expect from Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, stating that: “He couldn’t be more naive as Baby Groot. I always think of the Groot that we saw on the first Guardians as a college-level Groot, so he’s not fully grown yet, but he’s a man. And once he sacrifices himself at the end of the movie, now he has to start all over, so to speak, but we’re gonna see this goofy, adorable, baby Groot thing running around the screen and just learning as he goes.”

The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
