Vin Diesel says we’ll see a battle between Groot and The Hulk

December 6, 2016 by Ricky Church

Fans have gotten pretty excited over the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, especially the interactions between Rocket and Baby Groot. While Vin Diesel said that a Rocket and Groot movie is up to director James Gunn, he also gave us a hint of what’s to come when the Guardians eventually meet Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Asked by Screen Junkies if fans will ever see a pairing like Groot and Spider-Man on screen, Diesel said “I know somewhere in the universe, you’re going to see Groot and Hulk battle. You know it. Write it somewhere, you’re going to see that poster: Groot vs. Hulk.”

Whether we’ll see this in Avengers: Infinity War or the unnamed fourth Avengers (which previously went under Infinity War – Part 2) remains to be seen, but we do know a team-up between the two groups is bound to happen as the galactic villain Thanos makes his way to Earth to collect the remaining Infinity Stones.

A battle between Groot and Hulk wouldn’t be so far-fetched either as the two have fought each other before in 1976’s Incredible Hulk Annual #5. In that issue, The Hulk walked away victorious. We could very well see that battle come to life onscreen.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) in as yet-unrevealed role.
