Vin Diesel to produce and star in a live-action Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots movie

Vin Diesel, known for his wild franchises like Fast and the Furious, XXX, and Riddick, will attempt to add another to his list as it is being reported that Diesel will produce and star in a live-action Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, and he says he has big plans for this film.

“To take the classic Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em game, with Mattel as my partner, and align it with the kind of world-building, franchise-making success we have had with Universal, is truly exciting,” said Vin Diesel.

Yes, Diesel will partner with Mattel Films and Universal to bring the classic tabletop boxing robots game to the big screen. Diesel is producing with One Race Films and partner Samantha Vincent. 2018’s Rampage writer Ryan Engle penned the screenplay.

Deadline reports that the film will follow a “father and son who form an unlikely bond with an advanced war machine.”

Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots was first launched in 1964 and saw a resurgence in the 90s and 00s. any felt it served as inspiration for the 2011 film Real Steel, but this  will mark the first time that the iconic name of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots will come to the cinemas.
