WandaVision has more VFX shots than Avengers: Endgame, says Paul Bettany

January 10, 2021 by Gary Collinson

The screen may be getting smaller, but it seems that Marvel Studios won’t be scrimping on scale when it launches its first live-action TV series WandaVision this month.

Speaking to Total Film, Vision actor Paul Bettany has been discussing the scope of the Disney+ show, which he says will “make everybody look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a whole new way.”

“Marvel has always taken big swings, but we’re a really big swing,” states Bettany. “There are more VFX shots in WandaVision than we had in Avengers: Endgame. That’s a big ask.”

“Law and Order this is not,” added director Matt Shakman. “This was not six months of shooting people walking down the same hallway. Kevin [Feige] was really clear from the beginning that this show would be very different but it would also be as Marvel as anything else they’d ever made – including some of the biggest set pieces they’ve ever done.”

There’s certainly plenty of excitement for WandaVision (especially as Marvel fans have been starved of new content since Spider-Man: Far From Home in the summer of 2019), and we’ll get our first taste of the MCU’s Phase Four this coming Friday when Disney+ drops the first two episodes.

Marvel Studios’ captivating new series WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany and marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

WandaVision is set to premiere January 15th, 2021, and features a cast that includes Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), Randall Park (Agent Jimmy Woo), Teyonah Parris (Empire) as Monica Rambeau, and Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms) as Agnes.
