Warner Bros. cuts Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot cameos from The Flash

December 18, 2022 by EJ Moreno

If you were hoping to see a Zack Snyder’s Justice League reunion between three of DC’s most popular characters, you are about to be disappointed.

The Hollywood Reporter has broken a story saying that Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot’s cameos in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash, the upcoming film featuring the Ezra Miller version of the character, have been cut. Yes, after filming the cameos, it’s said that both actors will no longer appear in the movie as James Gunn continues the removal of all things Zack Snyder from the DC universe.

Recently, we learned that the studio chose not to go forward with director Patty Jenkins’ version of Wonder Woman 3, which led to questions whether Gal Gadot will stick around as the character. With the cameo removal and no future projects in the works now for either Wonder Woman or Superman following Cavill’s exit from the role, it looks like the hard reset of all the DCEU characters isn’t too far away.

What’s wildest about the Cavill side is that the report states that each of these Superman cameos cost the production $250,000. That means the actor made $500,000 off his minor roles in Black Adam and The Flash, the latter of which we will likely never see.

For some close to the situation, Cavill has been described as “a pawn in Dwayne Johnson’s failed attempt to control a piece of DC.’ One insider notes that Cavill was promised a return moment as Superman if Johnson were to get into a power position at DC Studios.

It was said that the DC Studios executives met with Cavill to discuss their plans, which allegedly saw them offer the actor a potential new role down the road. When Gunn was accused of stringing along these actors, especially Cavill, who saw such a rocky road in the last few weeks, the DC Studios co-chair said on Instagram this week that “everything with Black Adam happened before I was around.”

No matter what the drama is, it’s a hard pill to swallow for many that the Snyder-verse era of characters is seemingly over. James Gunn wants to clean the slate, especially since he now has his own Superman film in the works.
