Warner Bros. developing Wile E. Coyote movie

August 29, 2018 by EJ Moreno

The Looney Tunes are finally making a comeback! As first reported by Deadline Hollywood, Warner Bros. is said to be working on a Wile E. Coyote film.

The title is currently Coyote Vs. Acme and it will be a live-action/CG animated hybrid film produced by The LEGO Batman Movie’s Chris McKay. The sibling team of Jon and Josh Silberman are serving as the writers of this script. Their work includes Living Biblically, Deadbeat, and FXX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The mute Coyote first appeared in 1949 in “Fast and Furry-ous.” This landmark cartoon was the first of nearly 50 entries in which Wile E. Coyote is unable to catch the Road Runner, despite using many devices from the Acme Corporation.

This feature will mark the first major Looney Tunes film since 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Will this finally push the studio to release a long-awaited follow-up to Space Jam, a 1996 movie that made $230.4M worldwide?
