Wes Anderson will make a 1940s musical for his next film

August 16, 2018 by Ricky Church

It looks like Wes Anderson (Isle of Dogs) is already gearing up for his next film. According to The Playlist and the French outlet Charente Libre, the director’s next project will be set in post-WWII France. Not only that, but Anderson will venture into a genre he hasn’t gone into before as this film will be a musical.

Anderson is currently scouting locations for the film in Angoulême, an area which was heavily bombed during the war. Production is expected to begin later this year or early 2019, though Charente Libre notes Anderson hopes to get cameras rolling in either November or December.

Details on the plot are unknown as is the potential cast, though for those who have seen Anderson’s previous films, he usually assembles the same group of actors for his films, whether they’re in a major role or quick cameo. Actors who usually appear in his films include the likes Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, Jeff Golblum and Bill Murray.

If production does begin in the fall, we can presumably expect to get more information on Anderson’s musical sooner rather than later.
