West Side Story’s Kyle Allen cast as He-Man in Netflix’s Masters of the Universe live-action film

January 29, 2022 by Ricky Church

West Side Story and The Path star Kyle Allen has the power as he has been cast as Prince Adam/He-Man in Netflix’s upcoming Masters of the Universe live-action film.

Allen replaces Noah Centineo (Black Adam) after Centineo had to drop out of the role last year. In the live-action film, Allen will play Adam, an orphan who discovers he is a prince destined to save the kingdom by becoming the powerful champion He-Man.

Masters of the Universe will be directed by The Nee Brothers (The Lost City) from a script by the Nees and David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). The film will be produced by Mattel Films and Netflix with Robbie Brenner and Kevin McKeon of Mattal producing alongside Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and DeVon Franklin

“Masters of the Universe is an iconic property that shaped the imaginations of an entire generation of kids with the message of becoming the best version of yourself. With our partners at Netflix, we look forward to showing audiences that anything can happen in Eternia. We are continuing to unlock this global franchise in new ways, and we can’t wait to see Kyle battle it out with Skeletor in this epic live-action saga,” said Brenner.

“We’ve always been inspired by the fantastical world of Eternia,” said Black, Blumenthal and Tisch in a joint statement. “This movie has been 14 years in the making for us and our partners and we are so excited to tell an entirely new story for Masters of the Universe with the Nee Brothers and Dave Callaham for Mattel and Netflix and share it with a global audience.”

Netflix currently has two Masters of the Universe animated series streaming: Masters of the Universe: Revelations from Kevin Smith and the more kid-friendly He-Man and the Masters of the Universe CG animated series.
