Here at Flickering Myth, we’ve been covering movies, TV, video games, comic books, and geek culture since 2009,
and thanks to the wonderful support of our readers, we’re still around! However, it’s getting tougher each year…
Ad revenues are plummeting, as many advertisers shift their dollars over to social media influencers, and ad blocker use continues to increase by the day. Over the past few years, we’ve certainly felt the pinch. Our income has dropped for the past three years (despite our costs going up year on year), and throughout 2017, we ran at a loss almost every month.
We’re extremely fortunate and grateful to get to do what we do, but in order to keep our content at the level it is at, and – we hope – continue to grow, we need your support. With your help, hopefully we can keep the lights on. Perhaps even get back to doing some audio and video content. And maybe, just maybe, we can pay our writers pistachio nuts instead of peanuts.
So, we’ve decided to give this Patreon thing a try. We’ve come up with a few rewards to offer a little something extra to our followers, and we want your help and feedback to improve them going forward and make sure you’re getting value for your hard-earned money.
