Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly to reunite for Holmes & Watson

August 17, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Talladega Nights and Step Brothers stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are set to reunite for Sony Pictures’ upcoming comedy Holmes & Watson, which will see the duo taking on the roles of Arthur Conan Doyle’s two iconic characters.

Deadline reports that Etan Cohen (Get Hard) is set to direct, with Ferrell portraying Sherlock Holmes and Reilly as Dr. John Watson. Sony originally planned on pairing Ferrell with Sacha Baron Cohen, although they were unable to put together a deal, opening the door for the Ferrell/Reilly reunion.

Holmes & Watson isn’t the only Sherlock Holmes project on the horizon, with plans for Guy Ritchie to reunite with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law for a third instalment of their franchise. And of course on the small screen Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are set to return early in 2017 for a fourth series of Sherlock, while Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu will be back in October as Elementary season five gets underway on CBS.
