Winston Duke to play political activist Marcus Garvey in Amazon’s Marked Man

March 1, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Black Panther and Us star Winston Duke is set to play political activist Marcus Garvey in Amazon Studios Marked Man.

Deadline exclusively reports that Marked Man will be directed by Andew Dosunmu (Restless City) and that as well as Winston Duke, Jesse Williams (The Cabin in the Woods) and DeWanda Wise (Jurassic World: Dominion) are also in talks to star.

Partly inspired by the biography of Colin Grant, Negro with a Hat: The Rise and Fall of Marcus Garvey, Marked Man will be written by playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah, and tell the 1920s set story of ‘a young black man who joins J. Edgar Hoover’s Federal Bureau of Investigation and then infiltrates Garvey’s UNIA organization, testing his loyalty to both race and country as he grows weary of both men’s actions.’

Winston Duke can be seen next in Edson Oda’s Nine Days, which is set for release sometime in 2021. As always, let us know what you think of this news by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
