This has been on the cards since Disney and Lucasfilm pushed J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX back to December 2019, and now Warner Bros. has officially announced that its DC Extended Universe sequel Wonder Woman 2 has been moved up six weeks and will now open in theaters on November 1st 2019.
Wonder Woman 2 was originally slated to open on December 13th 2019, which would have given the superhero blockbuster just one week before Star Wars: Episode IX arrived in theaters. So far, it has no competition on November 1st, although Bond 25 arrives the following week, followed by Frozen 2 on November 27th.
The follow-up to this year’s smash hit will see Patty Jenkins returning to the director’s chair, while Gal Gadot is expected to return as Diana Prince – although a rumour this week claimed that the actress is refusing to sign on to the sequel unless Warner Bros. completely removes Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment from the project following allegations of sexual assault aimed at the filmmaker.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Iris West, Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf, and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
